Nursery Unveiling.

>> Friday, January 15, 2010

I'll probably never think it's "done," because I can't imagine in my current nesting-state being fully satisfied and content with anything to do with creating a home for my daughter. But the nursery is finally done-ish.

Back in October my mom bought us the most wonderful gift--an antique mural, from the 1920s, found in a store called Wonders on Woodland in East Nashville. It's taken this long for Jason and I to actually get back down to our old neighborhood with a pick-up truck and rope ready to pick it up.

Today, we finally succeeded. And with the help of Jason's amazingly gracious dad we got it hung perfectly and the last touches on the nursery put in place.

The dress in the middle--a gift from my mom's best friend, Trey. I foresee many games of dress-up in its future.
The pillow in the back right says "Oye with the Poodles already," one of my favorite Christmas gifts of all time (also from my mother). I'll just say the quote is from Gilmore Girls, and if you actually know its context and love it as much as I do, then I love you.

The books are a combination of an incredibly generous gift from my best friend Meagan, including several of the classics like Angelina Ballerina and Goodnight Moon, just to name a few, and also a collection of books from my childhood gathered from my parents' house.

The print on this Baby Book encompasses so many of my favorite things. Birds, stark black decals, and the juxtaposition of primary colors. A gift from one of favorite people, Morgan, who found it in a store in her neighborhood in Brooklyn.

The chair is from the same vintage store in East Nashville where we found the painting.

All I did was watch Jason guide the painting onto the back of the truck and okay the positioning of the painting on the wall. And I'm exhausted.

Before I even read your description, I recognized the "Oy with the poodles already". Awesome! I love Gilmore Girls.

Brand new around here, but I think I'll poke around some more.

If you love Gilmore Girls enough to have it put on a pillow, you are my kind of people! :)

Adelyn is a beautiful name.
