Babble Party.

Yesterday my mom and I were talking about Adelyn's first birthday party which is, I know, sort of excessive since it is more than half a year away. But we were just wondering aloud what kind of party it would be, what Addy would like. What are her favorite things? Being in the bathtub, that's one of them. So a bathtub-themed party? Standing, with our help. A party where we celebrate standing? And above all else, her favorite thing is babbling. Trying to talk. So a babbling-party it is.

I finally caught one of her louder outbursts on video today. This is roughly translated into "whoa, my voice is loud. WHOA! It can get even louder!"

(This is the sound I wake up to a three a.m. on the dot every night now--because she wants to practice. My best friend Meagan said it sounded like a baby dinosaur, and I think that's about right.)

Sounds That Aren't Cries.

Addy woke up yesterday to a whole new skill. Suddenly she's realized that there's more to that mouth than eating and crying, and she's spent the last 48 hours perfecting this realization.


This makes me happy for several reasons. One, because it's nice that she's replacing some of the crying with another, less gut-wrenching, stress-inducing sound; second, because it means that maybe, just maybe, my attempts to talk to her all. the. time have resulted in a baby who will like to talk, (this also means that talking all day long to someone who can't talk back might not have been a futile activity); and, lastly, because it is freaking adorable.
