The all-mighty Baby Center.com just published a list of the 42 things that change when you have a baby.

Most of them are obvious (you mean newborns don't sleep 9 hours through the night without making a peep?) but some just pissed me off.

Number 12: "Your dog — who used to be your 'baby' — becomes just a dog."

Um, sorry, no. Do you see that guy up there? That's Louie. And he will never be relegated to "just a dog."

I feel like crap today, and I already had to clean up the watery poop he left in the living room. I've had to wash his butt for the FIFTH time since Friday, because of said watery poop. And as I type this, he's licking my toes. He's desperate for my attention. He'll do anything to make me happy, and I'll do anything to make sure his amazingly adorable little puppy-self is taken care of.

That includes now, later, and after-baby. I know the baby will change things, and I assume the love I have for him/her will surpass any sort of unconditional love I have for this canine, but Louie will never, ever, be "just a dog."

Just look at him. Can you blame me?
