I doubt I'll be able to post again until Monday. Jason has a friend visiting from Texas. So he, his wife, their 11-month-old daughter and their poodle are staying with us all weekend. Needless to say it's a little hard to find a moment alone to write. Or to pee.
Starting to doubt if Adelyn has reflux. The medicine helped for a couple days and now the grumpiness and vomiting is back (I'm in my third outfit today, if that's any indication).
Now I'm convincing myself that she might be on the verge of teething, although I know it's insanely early. But I feel a little hard spot on her top gums; she's drooling NONSTOP; she keeps sort of rubbing at her face; and I'm desperate for an answer.
Orajel seemed to help for ten minutes--she finally took a nap but woke up twenty minutes later, upset all over again.
Oh, babies. The constant riddle continues.

I love your blog. I had a baby on the 4th of April and they think she has GERD (reflux). Instead of medicating her, the dr. suggested using something called "thicken up". We got it from the pharmacy we had to ask the - I'm in Canada though, so I am not sure how/where you can get it. Basically it thickens the formula slightly to help keep it down. We've used it for a week now, and she's finally gaining weight and keeping her food down. It's something you might want to explore. If you want anymore information, I can be reached at jennifers_82@hotmail.com
I just wanted to let you know that you're blog has kept me sane through the last few months of my pregnancy and these past three weeks. Good luck with Addy!
I speak only from past experiences, but my daughter is 5 1/2mo and has been drooling like a faucet for at least 2 months straight now. People assume (by people i mean general population) that early drooling and fussies are teeth, but there is really a small percentage of babies who pop them so early. Not that Addy won't-and wouldn't that be great if it really were* the problem in the end-but for me-The fussing and drooling aren't indicators of teeth. My 2 older kids didn't sprout teeth till 7-8 mo. so i don't expect different even though she has those signs. I waited for months with my first child thinking the way you did. everyone eluded me to believe that had to be the problem. I waited a long time! LOL And also-some rarities do happen-but most first teeth are the bottom middle ones-then top two. The longer it takes for your kids first teeth to come in the better-i was told it means their teeth will be stronger in the long run.
Have you tried switching her formula before the reflux meds? IDK what kind you use-but a lot of babes do well with Soy. All 3 of mine ended up with it. If you're already there-you should ask your doc about the next step in formula. The previous poster mentioned thickening the bottles w/ something-i know here in the states, lots of moms on BBC say the doctors told them to "thicken the bottles with cereal"-I don't know if that's the same-but I would try other options before adding cereal to the diet so soon.
Good luck and i hope your little girl feels better soon :)
