Emotional Roller-coaster. (Hers, not mine.)

>> Monday, April 19, 2010

After Saturday I thought there were about 15 undiagnosed things wrong with my child. We were around a lot of different people and she pretty much cried the entire time. And since everyone loves her so everyone was quick to try to figure out what was bugging the 12-pound screaming machine.

She's just been really fussy lately. She'll be three months (how did that happen?) on Wednesday, and even though she smiles now more than ever she also seems to be getting increasingly uncomfortable.

We went to the doctor today so I could rule out any thing I might be missing. And absolutely nothing is wrong with her. Her doctor said she might have very mild reflux, because she's thrown up a few times the last two weeks, but was hesitant to prescribe medicine unless it continued to get worse. (This is why I love that doctor.)

I think I'm starting to realize that Adelyn, like her mother, is just an emotional gal. When she's happy she's happier and cuter than any Gerber baby out there, and when she's not, well, she will do everything in her power to let you know. As my sister commented, this will probably make for some really fun years when she's a teenager. For now, I'm learning that Adelyn is happiest when she is constantly distracted. A few minutes on the floor, a few minutes walking around, a few minutes in her swing, a few minutes with her paci, a few minutes playing mimic-mommy's-face. Unless she's sleeping or eating, she just wants to move.

I will probably get some how-dare-you e-mails from this because some people put Bumbo Seats down there on the list with blowing smoke in your baby's face and not putting them in a car seat, but I have to post the following picture. I put Adelyn in her friend Kennedy's Bumbo last week just as an experiment and she loved it. So I had to buy one. We're only using it for a few minutes at a time (see above), but she can hold her head up and look around and wave her arms and if she likes it, than I do, too.

oh my goodness, her face is so freaking precious. I just want to gobble her.

not in a creepy, eat-your-baby way. just a cutesy, nom-nom-nom sort of way.

I've never seen those seats before. What problem could people possibly have with them?!

I think its perfectly fine to put her into those seats! Someone will always be there to tell you there is something wrong with what you are doing, so thank goodness you don't bother to stress! She is an absolute cutie and honestly perfect in every way! Emotional girls make amazingly expressive people and thats not a bad thing! :)

WHOA???? Some people think bumbo seats are bad??? I put Ella in hers ALL the time. What's so bad about it?

LOL @ Anna Elena!

And i agree with Jaclyn.

We heart our bumbo and got ours when dd was a bit over a month. the minutes build up a bit once they are bigger-and the tray is really great for when they start to eat solids or for travel!

Did you already buy the Bumbo?? Zoe has one and J and I were just discussing how she's out-grown it. If not, I'll hook you up! LOL.

Yeah, there are apparently a whole lot of people who think they put "unnecessary pressure on the spine." I was really bored a few months ago and got caught up on this huge debate on Baby Center about it.

But whatever. People will seriously find a problem with anything!

Jaclyn,  April 19, 2010 at 6:55 PM

Well I talked to my doctor about WHEN I could put Ella it in it, and my doctor said once they have head control and some trunk control it was fine. What do some of those people on BabyCenter know anyway? I get on there, but some people are way too much for me! Whatever. You know what's best for your child if anyone does say something :)

Dana--
Yup, I did cave in and buy it! And we actually put Zoe in Adelyn's Bumbo when she came over last weekend and she barely fit. Once she was in it she kept leaning over to chew on the sides. Haha.

Yeah, she's ALL over the place and into everything. God help us! I'll be watching Zoe mon/tues 'til further notice if you and Adelyn want another (step?) mommy and baby friend, i'm game! It's nice to know I'm not the only jew in nashville :)

Sarah,

I feel like most of the Baby Center commenters are idiots! My little guy's thighs are too chubby for the Bumbo and he looks like he's getting his hair washed at the salon when I do manage to wedge him in there, but Addy looks adorable in hers!
