Expanding.

This really isn't a complaint, because I think I've had it relatively easy so far when it comes to my expanding figure, but I had a startling thought this morning.
I've gained 20 pounds so far. I only want to wear leggings and baggy shirts. I run out of breath going up the stairs or carrying laundry. When I catch a glimpse of my reflection from the side, I literally gasp. I can no longer paint my own toenails (yesterday I had a rather frustrating episode trying). And--as of last week--Adelyn only weighs 3 pounds, 11 ounces. She has at least (I hope) 4 pounds to go.
I can't even imagine how ginormous I'm gonna feel a month from now.

Sarah, get ready! It's totally ridiculous. Fortunately, my body waited until last week to go really nuts, so I don't have to deal with being so enormous for too long. Here's how it went: my husband has joked with me throughout my pregnancy that I don't look as pregnant as other mothers-to-be. I'm lucky enough to be expanding only in the abdomen and nowhere else. Between a month ago and two weeks ago, I hadn't gained a single additional pound. I thought that maybe I had topped out! But then, one morning I woke up and felt like a beetle flipped onto its back! In the last two weeks (weeks 33-35), I GAINED 7 pounds!!!!! All of that weight is currently sitting on my lungs, making it hard to walk 60 feet without getting out of breath. I just don't understand women who run marathons at this stage of pregnancy. Hopefully baby drops off of my lungs soon...
